Offensive Line Undergoes Switch

Clay Helton said today Chuma Edoga is focused on playing right tackle. This is big because Edoga was supposed to be the left tackle of the future after playing there all during spring practice.

Toa Lobendahn and Clayton Johnston are practicing at left tackle so far. That means you can bet Lobendahn will be the starting left tackle. And then that means Nico Falah starts at center.

Edoga supposedly prefers the move. Lobendahn probably wants to play center but is also USC’s most valuable lineman, so he goes to the toughest spot.

  1. Chuma Edoga said more than a week ago that he is focused on playing right tackle.

    • Right on! 7/20/17:

“I’m more comfortable at right tackle, right now,” Edoga said. “You know, that’s what I’ve been playing most of my life and that’s where I’m going to stick.

“I was just playing left tackle at the beginning of spring, then I moved back to right tackle and I was comparing how comfortable I felt, and I feel like this season I could really help the team out at right tackle.”

      Sweep scoopin’ Wolfman!

    • Yo, hoo. Hope all is well with you. Agree that this was not a reporting coup.

It would be nice if one of the more natural tackles would step up on the left side. Toa has not finished a season lately, so one of the others may have step in, even if he has not stepped up.

  2. this just in….Marvin Bagley, USC’s DREAM RECRUIT, cancelled his AZ visit and will visit UCLA instead…..no KY visits imminent.

    Uh-OH, SPAGHETTI-O!!

    • That’s been in for like 12 hours, bud. Since you’re apparently slow to be made aware of the latest and greatest, let me help you out. SC and Duke are still the favorites to land him.

      • that’s the game now….one and done. KY has something like six 5-stars coming in this year, ridiculous. all are trying to be one and dones.
