Last week, La Mirada High School’s Daniel Poncedeleon and California’s Brittany Delgado were selected the WDN Players of the Year.
Poncedeleon was a star quarterback and pitcher for the Matadores, leading both the baseball and football teams to Suburban League crowns.
The Arizona-committed Poncedeleon also quarterbacked the Matadores to the CIF-Southern Section Southern Division crown.
As for Delgado, the UC Irvine-bound senior competed in soccer, track and field and volleyball.
Delgado was a Del Rio League champion in the triple jump and a league second-team selection in soccer.
She was injured early in league play during the volleyball season.
