Jayvon Logan Confirms Appeal Set for Wednesday

Jayvon Logan, the uncle and legal guardian of La Habra High senior running back Drake Griffin, said his family will appeal the CIF-Southern Section’s recent denial of Griffin’s transfer from St. Paul to La Habra.

The appeal is set for Wednesday at the CIF-Southern Section office in Los Alamitos.

“I don’t think you can get on paper what you can say in person,” Logan said. “I just think this is a misunderstanding and we look forward as a family to explaining our side.”

There was a belief that Griffin’s transfer may have suffered had St. Paul contested. Swordsmen coach Marijon Ancich said he was unaware of any protest.

“If there was a protest from the school, it wouldn’t have come from us,” Ancich said. “It would have come from our former principal, Lori Barr. I don’t know if she did or didn’t protest.”
