Yasiel Puig singles, walks, attempts to steal a base in second rehab game.

Yasiel Puig had an eventful five innings in his second rehabilitation game with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday.

Puig, who is recovering from a strained left hamstring, beat out an infield single in his first plate appearance, walked in his second, and was thrown out attempting to steal second base.

The right fielder homered and walked in a 1-for-2 performance Monday, his first game at any level since June 2.

Scott Van Slyke goes 1 for 2 in first rehab game with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Scott Van Slyke played his first rehab game for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. He finished 1 for 2 at the plate with a single and a walk, and played seven innings in right field against the San Jose Giants.

The outfielder/first baseman has missed 38 games this season due to a back injury.

Pitcher Yaisel Sierra, the only other player on the Rancho Cucamonga roster today who is on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, exited the game after 3 ⅔ innings due to what the team called an “apparent hand/finger injury.”

SAN DIEGO — Scott Van Slyke‘s long-stalled recovery from a back injury finally has an ending in sight.

The first baseman/outfielder is flying to Los Angeles today after a brief stint at the Dodgers’ extended spring training facility in Glendale, Ariz. He’ll then report to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga for the Quakes’ game in Visalia, California.

Van Slyke has played in four games this season and missed 37 since injuring his back in San Francisco April 9. He’s expected to need at least a week’s worth of rehab games before he returns to the Dodgers.

Alex Guerrero goes 2 for 5 in final rehabilitation game for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.


Alex Guerrero went 2 for 5 with a double in his final rehabilitation game for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Monday. He served as the Quakes’ designated hitter and finished with a .269 batting average in six games. His rehab assignment will transfer to Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday.

Guerrero said Sunday that his rehab will last three weeks in total — one week at Single-A, one at Double-A and the last at Triple-A.

Pitcher Yaisel Sierra, the Dodgers’ only 40-man roster player on the Rancho Cucamonga roster, started and allowed three runs in six innings. He allowed eight hits, walked none and struck out six batters.
