The football game between Pomona and Garey scheduled for tonight at Garey has been canceled and won’t be made up according to Garey Athletic Director John McGaha.

It will go down as a forfeit.

The cancellation is because of a shooting that occurred on Thursday at the corner of the campus and school officials are worried about the possibility of more violence.

“It’s about keeping our kids safe,” McGaha said.

McGaha added that a statement from the school district is expected later today.
