Muir’s Karl Holmes Jr. signs with Arizona St. …

Muir’s Karl Holmes Jr. (left) is headed to Tempe.

Muir wide receiver Karl Holmes Jr. proved better late than never on Friday when he signed with Arizona St. on a full-ride scholarship to play for the Sun Devils.

Holmes caught 23 balls for 628 yards and six touchdowns last season.

  • of course!!!

Karl Holmes is a D1 player. All the hype behind signing day sometimes leads us to believe that signing late means you were not as good as the other guys. Karl is a great prospect, and a weapon. He did not get a chance to shine at Muir, but he is going to be a good pick up for the Sun Devils Big, Athletic, Fast, good kid….Great Stuff Aram!

Aram — I hope you are correct on this story. I had a couple of Pac-10 coaches call me to verify the story and decided to go on the official Arizona State Football website. As of Saturday, there is no mention of Karl Holmes signing with Arizona State. Protocol goes that when a player signed a National Letter of Intent with a school, with a full scholarship, it is announced by the school.

The is the direct statement from Arizona State that was posted on their website on Wednesday. “TEMPE, Ariz.- Arizona State University has signed two additional student-athletes to national letters of intent to study and participate in football in 2011, head coach Dennis Erickson announced Wednesday.

West Los Angeles College safety Kevin Ayers and Pahokee, Fla., cornerback Joe Eason have been added to ASU’s 2011 recruiting class, bringing the total to 16.”

So I will not mark Karl Holmes as an official member of Arizona State football until he is announced by Arizona State. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later!

    SGV Scouting,

When the source is the kid himself, I’m pretty confident it’s true.

Anyway, the question now is just how good Karl will become. He’s got all the natural talents and once he gets into a college strength and conditioning program, oh man, I really think the sky’s the limit.

Consider this: Karl’s QB at ASU, at least later in his career, will likely be Michael Eubanks from Corona Centennial. That should be fun to watch!

  • sgv scouting

Aram — No doubt you got the info from the kid, but this is football recruiting and truths are kinda of stretched. So – like i said and it’s nothing to you or any football recruiting service – until their is a official announcement from the university, it’s not considered official.

Now, I something could be released Monday and this conversation could be considered moot! All I can say is thank god him and Seymour are not at Alemany!!!!

  • Karl Holmes

sgv scouting- I have no reason too lie about getting a scholarship,If you want youre more than welcomed to come to my signing party, Thursday 2;30 at John Muir, It will be in the gym, so come out and watch the show.

    God Bless

  • Hey Karl – congrats

Great achievement Karl!!! and all in the area wish you the best –

I can assure you that sgv scouting does not meaning anything personal against you at all – it is just the nature of the blogs, he was just stating the protocol

M Eubanks throws bullets, saw that at the NUC All World week at Christmas – better get new gloves ready, again congrats

Man stop hating on myboy karl holmes he’s going to asu full ride don’t be surprised if he takes over these next couple years either

  • SGV FAN!

Karl, first lesson “Don’t Listen to Ney sayers”. You know your situation, you know where you are headed. Instead of letting people get to you… take all the negative and use it as fuel. Coaches and players and media on the next level will try to break you. Mental toughness is the most important. Let people people talk…work hard, stay focused and you will succeed. Believe in yourself. Congrats! Represent the SGV properly in the classroom, on and off the field. We will be watching. Get that degree, and whatever else happens(NFL)…is a plus. Good luck!

Since I was the first one to bring it up, let me the last person to put this issue to rest. We have gotten a press release from Arizona State this morning, and it affirms the reporting of AT.

Pasadena (Calif.) Muir High School wide receiver Karl Holmes and Butte College (Calif.) wideout/return specialist Rashad Ross have been added to ASU’s 2011 recruiting class, bringing the total to 18.

Karl Holmes WR FR 6-3 180 Pasadena, Calif./Muir HS
Brings an excellent blend of size and athleticism to the future of ASU’s wide receiver lineup…runs a 4.54 40-yard dash…also ran track for Muir High School, with personal bests of 10.89 in the 100-meter and 21.78 in the 200-meter…led Muir with 23 receptions for 628 yards (27.3 avg.) and six touchdowns as a senior in 2010…added a 46-yard rushing touchdown…played wide receiver and cornerback for the Mustangs and also saw action on special teams…collected a season-best 110 receiving yards on four carries against Arcadia on Oct. 8, 2010…caught three passes for 99 yards against Glendale on Oct. 29, 2010 and hauled in four passes for 91 yards and a score against Burbank on Oct. 1, 2010…coached by Ken Howard at Muir High School.”
