Freddy, its High School Football. Know way am I going to hide because Ayala won that game. They may be much better than you give them credit for being. I think that this game is a wake up call for the CATs to get their rhythm back and still go for that Dec. game we call a championship. Monrovia played a bad first half that consisted of first game muffs and consequently became the tale of the tape. Our goal as a team is to bounce back and make some noise this season with consecutive wins all the way to the finals. There’s no shame in losing especially by 1 point to a good team. I think that Ayala and Monrovia will surprise a lot of people at the end of the season.

What a game. A welcome surprise. Ayala’s defense held up pretty good. Gave up some big plays, but didn’t allow a TD until the 4th Quarter… to a team that’s more than likely going to be playing for a CIF Championship with their host of D1 players later in the season. I didn’t believe they could come up with a win. I think I had Ayala losing by a TD plus a little I believe.

I think if I had to pick the better QB tonight, hands down going to have to be Ayala’s QB, especially since he’s only a Junior. They pressured him like crazy, flushed him out of the pocket, sacked him a few times but he didn’t have any INT’s, he never seemed to be rattled, he even broke off a pretty decent run that was called back for an untimely unsporsmanlike conduct penalty. He threw on the run well, stayed in the pocket when he could, even when he knew he was going to get hit, he waited that last fraction of a second and got the pass off and took the hit. Rare to find that QB that will take a lump for his team.

Robinson… I guess that… how was it put… “we have a plan for him…” I think is what was said. Guess things didn’t go according to plan. Like I said, you just don’t see speed and vision like that every day. You can prepare, you can watch film, but you’re still going to have your hands full against a player like that. Why he doesn’t have a mailbox full of offers when lesser players do, I’ll never know. Somebody is going to find this gem and man oh man are they going to score.

I’ve gotta go get my program, there’s some players I’m forgetting to mention.

Monrovia made some great half-time adjustments, we did not. We still have room for improvement. Too early in the season to peak. We played better for the most part than last week, we committed a few more costly penalties this week, but that can be fixed.

Overall, nice job to both teams for a hard fought game, but I’m especially proud of the Bulldogs. This was a step up game for them, playing a Championship caliber team with a host of D1 talent tough. Good job! Have fun next week in Vegas if you’re reading this and I’ll probably catch you at Citrus for Glendora
