This video will be a farce if they don’t win the Southeast… Too much focus on Uniforms and shooting themselves in video’s. I would have unveiled the unis game by game as we went from 1-0 to 10-0 going into the playoffs, and you release a video the week after you win it. I have not seen a Video from the south east champs or the runner up. They are placing a target on their own back, and they are not even the team to beat… I am not hating, I am just saying Win First, then brag… I am being so hard on them because after being blown out by West Covina, they got upset by Sante Fe. In Midvalley standards I would be like El Monte Making video…However it was entertaining. Now Rio Hondo Prep… those guys deserve a video, and they do have a target on their back in their division because they win it. This is called making your own casket. They should be so quiet over there, that when the season is over we would be like Wow all those 8 D1 players got it right this year.

      GP,
The lure to LM for players in not to win titles , it’s more of the program moving you on to D-1 . With the flash of multicolored uniforms and now videos along with the others Aram has posted , there are many players who like these types of things. Now to me this is all about recruiting in a sly sort of way . Wasn’t it you who said adamantly public schools can’t recruit ???????? To some it’s not about winning titles it’s about moving to next level , free of charge , and LM has done that .

      • GP AKA Green Machine

The offers that the La mirada players have is attributed to their talent, and size/speed combo, not the fact that they are at LM.It’s not because Moschetti is the coach. They would get offers regardless of where they played. If a kid transfers over there without that size and talent they will not get offers, because they are not winning. An undersized kid may get a shot, if he plays at a high level in a tough division. Or if he plays at a winning program in tough division. If you play lower division win or Lose you have to measure up in size and have the speed, or no offer for you. If those same players were at Cerritos, would they not be get offers? The answer is yes. Kids will come to LM because they want to win. As far as the uniforms go, every kid would love those. This video displays where the coaches mind is. It’s a coaches decision to take the time out to pick out the ten different uniforms. It’s a coaches decision to release a hype video to the papers. He is saying “look at me” real early…and everyone is going to look real hard especially if they repeat last years results. People will get tire of that. If they want to have all that stuff great, I just think every second of the summer should be spent on figuring out how they are going to win their division. If they win, then all is well. If they lose again with all that talent, It’s going to look like they are primadonnas.

        • Joe Amat

Be careful when you say things like,
“The offers that the (insert school here) players have is attributed to their talent, and size/speed combo, not the fact that they are at (insert school again)”
          or
“An undersized kid may get a shot, if he plays at a high level in a tough division. Or if he plays at a winning program in tough division. If you play lower division win or Lose you have to measure up in size and have the speed, and dominate or no offer for you. ”

It may just weaken some arguments you and your Wildcat cohorts make regarding a couple other schools in the SGV

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Not really, because the Mtown kids had and The Size speed combos. If they were undersized and slow at combines…despite winning 3 titles, that would not have been good enough to earn offers on the midvalley level. However undersize kids who play pac 5 or Inland, get the benefit due to level of comp…and a coach can feel comfortable making an offer.

Amat, there was nothing sly about that video. lol. it was blatant. lol.

        • AMAT 73

          NSFMF,

Yes there is nothing sly about it , recruiting at it’s finest . That was written more tongue in cheek to see what my pal GP would say, but as you can see he choses to bypass the real issue and ramble on about a different topic. Either way the LM program is doing a great job and you can’t knock them for using all the tools to get the kids in . Regardless of titles or wins they have moved and are moving kids to the next level and if they keep these things going they will always have kids wanting to play for them .

          • AramT

Yeah, but I can’t help feeling like with every new piece of publicity, La Mirada adds another 100 lbs. of pressure to itself this season. Maybe that’s how they want it. Maybe not. But there’s no doubting NO TEAM, not even Monrovia, will be under more pressure to a win a title when the playoffs start than La Mirada.

          • Not So Fast My Friend

Why is that Aram? (just curious) It’s not cause of the video is it?

          • GP AKA Green Machine

correct, there is no reason monrovia should lose a mid valley game for the next 5 years…LM has More talent than any team in the area including BA…But they won’t beat them, and don’t think they will win the South East…Just my opinion

          • Not So Fast My Friend

            Agreed on all points.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

haha tongue and cheek….If they lose again in the 2nd round don’t tell me kids are going to keep running over there. This is a special class of kids, with Size, speed and talent. Once they are gone…the offers will be as well. LM will be losing in the playoffs without big time Talent… That would mean this coach lost with talent and lost without talent…He will be gone…This year is huge…come on Amat seven tre!

          • AMAT 73

            GP,
My main point was that this is a recruiting tool plain and simple . If a players or his parents goal is to garner that D-1 scholarship then LM is not that bad of place to play . In this day and age to some ,titles and deep runs are not as important as getting a free ride to college for their kid .Titles and winning along with having that talent are far more important at the lower levels as far as getting noticed . You stated that in your post and in a earlier post . Also surprizing is your statment of the undersized kid playing in the PAC-5 and Inland will get a benefit by playing at a higher level . I believe that holds true for the D-1 talent prospect by showing that talent level at a higher high school level ,he has a better chance of beating out the lower level prospect for that scholly because of that fact if it’s between the 2 . It’s one thing to have that talent and play head and shoulders above players with talent far below your level ( you know this for a fact as it is very easy for you to come on here with the 4peat and not losing a MVL game the next 5 years ) then it is to line up against equal level talent and still out perform them or play them step for step .

          • GP AKA Green Machine

That’s my point… if you are playing above and beyond talent..you have to dominate them, and i would say the La Mirada has above and beyond talent in their division. Their loss last year would be equal to Monrovia Slipping up in the Semis. Why? because Mtown had 5 or 6 next level Guys and no one else in the Midvalley did or does at the moment. La Mirada has the most talent in the division hands down. I have clearly stated, in my opinion the coach has nothing to do with these players getting offers…it would be one thing if they were borderline size and talent players and coach help them get offers. These guys are among the top players in CA and the USA. Obviously the South east in a step above the midvalley, however it’s still considered lower level football. It is not Pac 5 or Inland comp. It closer to the midvalley level more than being closer to upper division. How do we know, because midvalley teams do beat southeast playoff teams in the preseason. Monrovia, San Dimas, and Covina, Have knocked off playoff teams and eventually the South East champ Westco, which beat LM by like 40 pts. How does Having 6-7 D1 scholarship players signing while losing, help the program and the other 60 kids at LM who are not going to the next level? Winning a title matters a lot to them. If the LM brand is recruiting, uniforms and scholarships over winning, how do you think that helps the program as a whole. How do you think that helps Coaches career and reputation? The Goal is to win first, and earn scholarships as a result of that. Not to lose first. Plenty of college coaches have players on their teams go to the NFL, but if their team is losing, they will be replaced. I think the coach wants his legacy to be filled with titles, not only getting players to the next level. You know why…because it will be clear, that he lost with tons of talent, which means he was not a good coach, he was just a high school football talent broker….

          • The truth and nothing but…

You know nothing about the La Mirada program so please stop commenting like you know. One, La Mirada isn’t the only team with talent, look at Downey and Norwalk, both those teams have at least 6 or 7 legit D-1A or AA talent. Two, the players getting recruited are all Moschetti, how else do you explain a QB who has played only a handful of downs getting 15 or 16 offers? One or two maybe but 15 or 16, that’s all Moschetti talking to the right people.

          • The truth and nothing but…

Who does Monrovia have with size speed combo this year for you to compare you guys to La Mirada? Kurt Scoby is the only player scouts want to see and he may not be eligible.

    • james

It’s turning into a program that has lots of kids wanting to come and play. Yes that’s right, play for a head coach that has turned a program around and has made fun and hard work a priority. High school years a short, why not have some fun while playing your heart out. But by your standards, only have a video if you win it all? Most kids will never have that, but bonding with brothers, having fun, becoming a man. And the memories are priceless..

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Yeah, but really these kids should be winning it all… go watch a game…You will see them get out worked…I am telling you this team has pac 5 talent. Who has more weapons then these guys, Especially in their division?

        • james

Well for one thing, they did win CIF in 2009. So it’s not like they have never won. You are far too critical, for a high school sport. Beside they don’t get out worked, i have been to most games for the last 7 years. Their offense has been rolling for 4 years now. It’s the D that has it’s problems. 3 different DC in 4 years, that needs addressing.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

I know they did win 2009, and they have been on spiral downward ever since. What’s funny is that they have nationally recognized players, more t If the D is a problem, then they should spend 100% of their time working on that… How am I being too critical? After being ranked top 25 in LA times and #2-3 by the trib, they lost to Santa Fe. They have no business wasting time on this kind of stuff.

          • james

Downward spiral? I view the program as being on the upswing since Moschetti took over. It takes a little bit of luck to win it all. Key injuries also can play a role. And LM had two big ones last year. You like your program, great! But i like LM chances and having a blast while doing it.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

So you mean to tell me those injuries caused them to lose to Santa Fe? I know their RB got injured but the 2nd guy had big rushing games…LM underachieved under Moschetti, no matter how you slice it. if they don’t win it this season or at least make the finals… it will be very clear where the problem lies.

          • james

GP or Grumpy Pants, If you want to see La Mirada up close, take your kids aged 6-14 to the FREE youth clinic this weekend. July 12 & 13 7-9pm registration at 6. Remember the cost is Nada, 0 or no Pesos. How many programs in the area run a free youth camp? Does Monrovia?

          • The truth and nothing but…

Only one way to find out who’s better, have Maddox call Moschetti to set up a game.

          • WCDan

James, I agree, LM is definately on the upswing. Last years team was easily better than the 2009 La Mirada Championship team. The difference is they are in a tougher division than 2009. There are more teams towards the top in the Southeast that can take you out on a bad night, compared to the division they were in.

GP, your a little quick with criticism when it comes to La Mirada, I keep reading from you how bad of a program they are because they blew it in the second round. Wonder how you think Monrovia would have fared in the Southeast? Do they take the title or do they lose in the playoffs? Chances are good they don’t get to the semis either, In the Mid-valley a team the caliber of last years La Mirada can have off nights till the third round during playoffs and they still probably get into the title game. Not so in the Southeast. Every team has off nights during the season, doesn’t mean they are a bad team or program, and in the Southeast playoffs it only takes one night and even a team as good as LM can go home in a hurry. As you already know, it gets even tougher as you get up into the top divisions. LM is not in a downward spiral, they are definately in an uptrend. The team they had last season was their best in a long time, they’re just in a tougher division.

          • He Hate Me

That division title in 2009 was down in division 9… Just saying…

          • james

so what, that was the division we were told to play in.

          • The truth and nothing but…

Finally, someone who knows the program and hit the nail right on the head.

        • New York

This program has an unheard of number of players committed to big-time schools.

Giving their profiled players the eye-ball test, I assume their weakness will continue be stopping fast players in the open field, similar to the Muir playoff game a few years ago. These guys are big, physical specimens, but that can be neutralize by teams who can get their speedster the ball out in space.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

That’s what I saw when they played La Habra…LM won, but you could see those big players were tired and missed a lot of tackles. However, I think they just need better coaching…Just my opinion.

        • The truth and nothing but…

Downey and Norwalk have at least equal talent.

  • Rene77

This is pathetic, smh. What direction is this program going in? F.I.D.M.

  • The truth and nothing but…

Kudos to Jim Phillips, the Executive Producer of the video, he does a nice job of promoting the school. He did a nice job at St. Paul and now at La Mirada.

    • Not So Fast My Friend

I second that. That’s a great video for a high school program!

  • SGV Dad

Very cool video. I agree that they now have to put some “W’s” on the board, but I love what the coaches are doing. There is nothing bad about this, in fact they are getting LM noticed in the Socal area. All great programs have that swagger, and this shows LM has some swagger. Teams will want to knock them off, but that’s a good thing. Just look at the last couple of years and you will see that LM got good attention in various blogs. Whether you love them or hate them, they are getting some attention. It’s like Amat, you either love them or hate them, but they are the team that everyone talks about. LM is stirring the pot, and I love it. Good job LM coaches, keep it up.

  • Lupe

Anyone know which # the All-American T.E. Luatua is?

  • New York

Kudos on another high quality video.
WOW! That 2013 schedule at the end of the video is pretty daunting. Good for La Mirada! Their first four games are against some real heavy weights. LM might have more D-1 scholarship recruits than any of those other teams, which is fantastic. I hope they do well and figure out a way to win these games.

  • Not So Fast My Friend

I love La Mirada’s video. That’s a great hype piece for their program. I would imagine more and more high schools are going to create their own versions. It’s great for attracting younger talent and getting the community, alumni and student body excited about the season.

Any La Mirada poster? If so, how do you think they’re going to do this season?

  • Valley Athletics

Video won’t be on YouTube very long. When you use popular songs with out proper licensing YouTube removes it . Nice video though

    • Not So Fast My Friend

Most artists have an agreement with Youtube. Google, via Youtube scans all music tracks attached to video. If they do not have an agreement with the artist, the video will not play. The fact that it’s been up for several days now, it’ll continue to play.

  • Jefe

With all this blatant self promotion before the season starts, anything less than a CIF championship for the Mats would be a nice big slice of humble pie.
