Bishop Amat’s fills Week O, at legendary Garfield

Bishop Amat has filled some its 2010 schedule on highschoolsports.net, and it appears they will open the season against Garfield at East Los Angeles College on Sept. 3. Garfield was 5-6 last season.

Bulldogs fear no one. Bring one, bring all, anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

  • Bob

This is NOT a good game for B.A. I can not think Bishop Amat has EVER scheduleD a team as weak as Garfield. What are they thinking??? 45 to zero at half time….

  • Paul

What? You got to be kidding me!

Its OK to be brave BUT it will get ugly quick.
There are some city teams that look and play like bad JV teams. Garfield may be one of them

  • Unreal…

I’m kinda disappointed. This game will be a blow out. Unfortunately, this is what happens when your pre-league games get dropped.

I was really hoping for Corona Centennial. They’re athletes are phenomenal and always bring a good product to the field.

I just hope this isn’t indicative of how the rest of our schedule is going to shape up.

  • amat cupcakes

amat scheduling down? bring on the cupcakes!

  • What a joke!

“The pot calling the kettle black” is the one quote that comes to mind immediately!

So much for harassing Charter Oak about their preseason schedule because Gardena for instance is as good if not better than Garfield. Garfield? Garfield!

    WEAK SAUCE..!

  • BULLDOGS!!!!

wow all i can say is bishop amat will come out with a big victory but also come out banged up. they are playing CITY boys that bring that hat all day!!! looks like garfield is trying to bring back their glory days as well. watch out for their DE #42 big kid and will dominate at this game, he is a very competitive kid!!!

  • LOOK AT THIS WAY

At least Garfield has the nads to take the game while all the ones jumping on this and the one they rep wouldn’t. and you know who you are.

  • ghs all day!!! east la pride!!!

watch out for these CITY boys baby!!! check out these highlights!!! PERRO PRIDE!!!

  • FISHBOWL POLITICS

The joke is on the FISHBOWLERS rather than the other way around. “IF” the FISHBOWLERS had “stepped up” this issue would be mute….which is what FISHBOWLERS are when asked for a “friendly” game….M.U.T.E !!!

FISHBOWLERS had their chance…so why talk big now?

  • Home Grown in East L.A.

GHS is going to come out strong and this is going to be one hell of a contest…
But the way I see it, at least my Bulldogs dont have to pay to play football like all of these private boys..

I did not know you tube can upload from BETA.

AMAT nation…How can you defend this? Really please try. wow!

will they accept WIC at the snack bar?

  • jcaz

    Wow….

Absolutely no disrespect towards Garfield high, but what just happened here ?

This has to be a practical joke on your part once again right Fred ??

For the life of me, I can’t figure this out. How did you do it ?

All kidding aside, I really don’t understand how this mess with scheduling got so out of control. It’s unbelievable to me that Amat so often tries to play head and shoulders above the rest of the SGV while at the same time scheduling programs that are not truly, a Division 1 program.

Sure maybe there were only a few games left on that table at the time, and again maybe more than a few schools dont want any part of Amat next year, but if some schools are willing to play games out of state, then why cant Amat play a Bishop Gorman or a northern California school who has an open date ?

There is no law that says you have to play 10 games every year. I would rather see quality game rather than just filler games on our schedule.

Anyway, the irony here is that we once again will get the pie in the face treatment, especially because of all the crap the Amat honks gave Charter Oak last year for playing that proverbial cup-cake schedule.

It always seems to come full circle around here. Man oh man.

  • What a fool Jcaz is

    Jcaz

You really are a Jack A$$.

You don’t know what side of the fence you sit when it comes to anything. One side of your mouth you are praising Amat – the next you are ripping them. Do us all a favor and just shut the hell up. True Amat fans don’t need your type – we would all be happeier if you just “went away.”

You get on here and act as the know it all everything about Amat – when in reality you really know nothing and everything you spew here is just your circumspect opinion. Sitting in the stands, bitching and complaining, does not make you an expert not someone “in the know”.

Have you EVER tried to schedule a game for Bishop Amat, or any other school for that matter? No. You have no idea what is involved, how it works, or what it takes to actually get a game finalized.

Do you think any coach at Bishop Amat really gives a crap about what anyone, you included, has to say on these boards? Seriously – get a life.

Before you speak – try getting a clue.

  • LA CITY SECTION/GHS

the southern section sees themsleves highly superior to the la city section when the southern section is made up of 500-600 schools and the city section consists of about 85 schools…cmon amat get over yourselves you
washed up little kids who always depend on mommy and daddy to cut them checks to get through life

Sept 3.2010 GHS is going to LAY THE WOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • COChargerfan

Amusing that once again jcaz states the obvious and then gets blasted for doing so…hey jcaz, I for one want you to stay on the side of the fence that includes folks that are able to intelligently reason so just let the ignorant “fools” wallow in their own crap on their side. And it is funny that this “fool” guy says that jcaz needs to get a life for stating his opinion but he does the same thing…this is called H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y pal. And FISHBOWL, Amat is responsible for their schedule to you need to look in the mirror not place the Garfield game on the other SGV schools. On the bright side, this should be an easy win…

  • calm down JCAZ

Once again JCAZ, you jumped the gun. Only two preseason games have been scheduled and no one was impressed w/ Compton Dominguez last season either. No one schedules ALL Pac-5 or equivalent Powerhouses for their preseason.

Your panic just breeds a chance for the haters to step up. The Amat Family kindly suggest that you stop typing.

  • cjpackfan

hey cochargerfan, please hit spell check when using the big words!……lol…where did that GED come from again.

  • AMAT 73

I am looking forward to this game . It is what it is and since it a week zero game let’s have fun with it .If this come off anything like Garfield vs Roosevelt it will be a blast. My phone has been ringing off the hook since the announcement came out. Big barbque with the cousins and others then off to ELAC. Great that Garfield takes the game, that says something about them and how they feel about themselves as a program. If you don’t test yourselves how will you ever know .Some what like us when we scheduled O Lu and St Bonnies and everybody but the truely faithful believed we didn’t have a chance in hell to beat them . We all know the out come don’t we .
    Jcaz ,
Before you continue just some food for thought. Look at all the other sgv schools schedules and how many of them have zero week games scheduled. I don’t think too many of them do and remember we only have one valley team scheduled ,Damien. Remember Hags did say he tried calling all of them. Why didn’t any of them call us knowing 2 of our series with local teams ended. Hummmmmm, you would have thought someone could have said let’s call Amat we know they have open slots and we can give them a run for their money. Or did they say no let’s play it safe and stay away from them we have too much to lose .Now I am not saying that happened but just a thought. It’s real easy to come on here and blast away at us for this situation and deflect the fact that no locals stepped up and asked us for a game but doesn’t what I just wrote make some sense and could possibly be the case. How about it Jcaz ,I will wait for your reply . All the other haters can blast away. Either way one down 3 to go and besides league is always tough so a couple of perceived easy games doesn’t hurt does it . Just ask some of our neighbors.

As you can see, the EAST LA BOY’S are already talking smack and think they can win! This is all about making money and i’m sure EAST LA COLLEGE will be sold out.

AMAT, I hope you smash Garfield, because they’re awfully cocky. East LA will hit hard, but at the end they won’t have the overall talent to compete.

EAST LA, against SGV, pretty good ring to it.

Hey cjpackfan…I spelled HYPOCRISY correctly which makes you the ignorant one. And I earned a college degree in Accounting…and I got A’s in English and Professional Writing classes…how about you????

While Garfield may not have enough at the end, you can bet that they are going to bring everything they’ve got…

  • My Garfield

Rumor has it Garfield is also playing other Pac 5 teams. It would be nice to get a traditional game with AMAT. Maybe in a couple of years we can get 25,000 into ELA stadium just like the Roosevelt game. The money could help both schools. Go Bulldogs! play hard!, fear no one!, and do yourself proud! no matter the score.

  • Respect is Earned

    COChargerfan

I figured a sleezeball like you would show up in here ranting about BA playing Garfield. I find it interesting that you have yet to mention the fact that Coach Lou’s Chargers refused to play Bishop Amat…and the entire San Gabriel Valley knows it!

Of course, you’ll pass this off as not important! LOL! You guys had another shot at the Big Boys and you ran the other way!

No bragging rights, respect, or honor for You!

    How does that feel?

  • SGVsBest

  • It may get ugly

It may and it may not get ugly but it sure is fun to talk about high school football in January. Garfield may lose by a hundred points but they will play every down hard and bring the wood!!!! Yes AMAT is better, and Garfield respects every team they face, but they FEAR ONE!!!! As Badddawg said Bring one, bring all, anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

  • It may get ugly

Also, i forgot I am new to your blog Fred great job. SGV has a great thing going on here. I am enjoying all the coverage of the high school sports and yes you do need more wrestling news.

  • http://msn.com mondo

All this SMACK talk is all in fun, so don’t all let it get to you. AMAT 73 I agree, this we hope will be a $$$ maker. It’s the kids who are playing, not some uptight fan that hasn’t played a down in years. If you don’t like it, don’t pay and watch it. Every kid at Garfield hits like a linebacker, so don’t think for a moment that the Bulldogs are going to come into the game unprepared. Good Luck to both schools
    and GOD BLESS!

  • Alan

Wow this a potential great game its the City vs. the SGV.. Well see what happens

  • NOT FAIR!

even if bishop schedules all cupcakes they still have to play in there league which just got stronger with Alemany. A win over Notre Dame or Crespi puts them right on top of valley

  • COChargerfan

Learn to read “Respect is Earned” because I’ve made two comments neither saying anything about the propriety of scheduling Garfield…the first one concerned pot shots being taken at jcaz and the second for a pot shot at me for supposedly misspelling HYPOCRISY…which I didn’t. As far as playing Garfield, all I said is they are going to play hard. As to CO’s schedule, since I wasn’t there, I have no idea how the schedule was put together, including whether Amat was ever an option…just curious, were you present in Coach Lou’s office? If not, then YOU, like me, really knows the dynamics. Are you 100% certain that CO didn’t already have written and verbal committments which pretty much ruled out playing Amat because that is my understanding? And, I’ve read over and over that Amat did not want to drop down to play CO so why are they now all pissed off about CO SUPPOSEDLY saying no? Doesn’t make sense…seems like some folks are trying to make something out of nothing.

As I’ve said over and over, pre-season means nothing anyway…it is about CIF Titles which hopefully Amat will get a shot at next year. And if they do and CO is sitting at home, I’ll be at the game rooting for Amat to win…maybe sitting right next to you…wouldn’t that be hilarious!!!

  • Bob

Now that I got over the shock that Bishop will be playing LA city Garfield HS.I have been to MANY(sold out) games at East LA College. There is NO better place to see a high school game then there, when the game is sold out. It is So loud there(I have played on this field) that you can’t even think. BUT if this is played on zero week it will be hard to get a big crowd. Why did they book this game?? Why didn’t they make a call to the San Diego area?? How about Central Calif. any of the Colvis schools.Does Concord De La Salle have any Garfields on there schedule?? Can’t wait to hear there reason…

  • please

Yeah, that’s what happens when everyone jumps ship and don’t want to play you anymore. One thing’s for sure, Garfield is just like playing West Covina, Damien, Diamond Ranch etc. So Amat hasn’t done anything but put (out of necessity) the same caliber team on the schedule. So the rest of you bums can calm down right about now… Amat still shines!

  • cant stand private schools…!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate all these private school kids, bishop, st. paul, cathedral, you name it, their parents think their kids are too good for public when just as many kids get it done out of the city…all southern section private schools are very arrogant and cocky…i hope amat gets slapped in the mouth and comes out with a big fat “L” then goes back home on their fancy charter bus…now that would be the ultimate feeling for garfield!!!!!!!!!!

  • ???

How many of you knew that Concord De La Salle is a Catholic school?

You’re right. The taxpayers including those of us that send their kids to private school are.

  • Joe Amat

First, it is becoming painful to visit this blog with all the crap people spew. If you aren’t contributing to it being a better place with some valid info or a legitimate opinion – go away. You can disagree without being disagreeable… or an ass. Those that fit that bill know exactly who they are.

The Garfield game is actually a great strategic piece of scheduling for a number of reasons. Garfield has tremendous pride and tradition with a following to match. Last year they had a nice victory against Birmingham – who has been good for years, won the City Section a couple years back and schedules everyone. So playing the Bulldogs might be about the same as facing one of our locals. It couldn’t be more one sided than this years Diamond Ranch matchup was – could it? And they were in the Division 7 final! Playing at ELAC is an opportunity to be in a nice venue, and although not a fan of turf, it gives us an opportunity to play on it before we face it in league or the playoffs (as did West Covina – but that ran its course).

Coach Hagerty addressed some things in the interview last week. Scheduling has to make sense form a football perspective AND a business perspective. Garfield will PACK ELAC – and we split the gate. When we travel and out draw the home team (coughcoughdiamondranchcoughcough) that’s money out of our pocket. One of the reasons our series with Muir ended at the beginning of the decade. Sorry, but that’s the way it is at Amat. Sort of like Glendora Basketball back in its heyday would not play any away games, because their fans would make money for the opposing school – and the reverse not being true. When teams don;t travel to you when you have the home game – it’s just not great business. This is what eventually lead to GHS having 2 HS basketball tourneys (unheard of at the time) AND their Triple-Crown Classic to open the season. Sort of the same thing here.

The other reason this is a great strategic scheduling coupe is because of the location. Amat needs to reclaim East LA just as they’ve reclaimed the SGV. For a few years, as divisions became more and more diluted, families were intoxicated by championships… ie: if a team wins a championship they must be better than a team who doesn’t. So Amat needed a few of these head-to-head SGV matchups for shoppers to compare. The Lancers record versus the rest of the valley over the past 6 years has put that question to rest for all who are knowledgeable or objective in any way, shape, or form. With the resurgence of Cathedral and Salesian back to where they where decades ago, as a result of an increased commitment to athletic success, the families who choose to attend private school from that area have those local choices. Maybe Amat can make some inroads in getting some kids they used to have a shot at.

Hmmmm…. maybe we need to renew that Muir matchup someday soon too.

  • irep Sgv

to all sgv supporters why are you even worried about any of these other comments we all know how ugly this game i gonna be… i am just glad amat is getting a tune up game!!!!!!!!

    easy vicotry enough said!!!!

    FIGHT ON SGV!!!!

  • I’m back..!

    Joe Amat,

Thanks again for once restoring the integrity of this blog. Without you the world would simply come to an end. With you we can continue to worship you and read yet another passage from your written Holy Grail. Praise you wise one your divine and immortal!

Bishop Amat scheduling is a stroke of brilliance. The Lancer program rivals Servite in South California and De La Salle at the State level comparing private school to private schools. What a magnificent masterpiece the coaching staff has created putting this program back on the map after years of being lost. Soon we will witness the Lancers back at the top of the State rankings and a national power again and we will have men like Joe Amat to thank for their wisdom.

You people are so self-centered, egotistical, narrow-minded, righteous, hypocritical people that I seriously find humor in how delusional you are actually. Your a mediocre program that has been average for many years now that has done nothing significant for quite some time. Let go, move on, and accept that the past is the past and the present is the present meaning you’ll never win the Pac-5 again and until your lower down in football like baseball someone is always going to beat you in the second round.

My prediction is Bishop Amat doesn’t even make the playoffs next year and South Hills wins C.I.F. and would of and could beat you last year, this year, and years to come. Did I say come? Transfers to South Hills where our future is now and play for a winning program built on tradition.

  • SGV

    SGVsBest:

You are such a hypocrite! Here you are continually writing comments about Bishop Amats school location, calling them Knifers and what not. But the most ironic thing is, putting down one of the biggest LA GANGS in that area (ON THIS BLOG) and then trying to use that as a scare tatic!(“WE’LL FIX IT”), IS THAT A THREAT HOMEGIRL??? I knew you were dumb, but not that dumb. By the way I would watch how loosely I write down that GANGS NAME DOWN!

BY far that’s the worst crap i’ve ever heard! Like I said before your comments don’t belong here and YOUR constant bagging on BA is just flat out stupid.

  • “I’m Back”…….ARE YOU OK!?!?! That looked like that HURT!!!

You must have bumped your head real hard on your way into the blog room! Remember these scores???

    2009 Bishop Amat 41, Diamond Ranch 13 (Actual 41-6)
Diamond Ranch 31, South Hills 27

    2008 Bishop Amat 17, Diamond Ranch 6 (Actual 24-6)

Despite all of South Hill’s transfer shenanigans the past couple of seasons, they have been unable to prove that they could beat Diamond Ranch let alone a program like Bishop Amat. Now take care of that bump on your head because it’s making you say things you really can’t backup…

Please don’t make me explain the “actual” scores…BA fans know what I mean…

Tesoro (a non-playoff Pac5 team) destroys South Hills
    Fountain Valley destroys Tesoro
    Notre Dame destroys Fountain Valley
    Amat destroys Notre Dame

    You’re not back – you’re delusional

  • desperate

amats scheduling Garfield is a stroke of genious? How dumb. The reason this game was scheduled is because they couldn’t find anyone to play them. It was a desperate move to fill a game.

  • ARE YOU OK?

    just sayin’

I FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE! HAHAHA!

    WELL DONE!

And what kind of season would South Hills have had if they did not have Bishop Amat transfer and SGV Tribune Player of the Year in Dorian Wells in 2007?

  • jcaz

Ha ha ha, I get back from Vegas and I see that the usual crowd has chimed in.
Look gang, Ive said it before and Ill say it again, Im an Amat honk, but Im no homer, and if it makes you mad at me then I guess Ill have to live with that.

To, WHAT A FOOL JAC IS, man you sounded a whole lot like that joemama guy, and if it was in fact you, then at least have the gonads to come in here with your screen name and give it to me like a man and not like in a drive-by mode.

Look, I will never object to what your opinion is of me in here because you have a right to say it, however, at least let me know who you are so that we can have a discussion about it, and not a name calling session.

73, maybe we dont agree with me on this one here (you and I usually don’t ha ha), but at least I do respect you for the fact that you said your piece and did it without a drive-by

Now, in all fairness, my beef wasn’t all about the issues regarding the difficulty of scheduling a game in here (I will concede that), but rather. it was all about the reason as to why it took so long to get the ball rolling with the schedule.

Look gang, there are over a hundred schools that make up the CIF and out of all those schools, most of them already have their schedules made up for the next year. Sure, not all got it finished, but my question here was, why in the world did it get to this point for Amat?

You know, I wasn’t trying to disrespect Garfield, but the fact remains that Amat really shouldnt be playing them, so if you drive-by haters have a problem with this contention, ok, lets talk about it, but dont resort to the childish BS that comes out of a drive-by.

  • joemama

JCAZ, it was not I who posted that. If it were I would guarantee you that I would have said it with my screen name and not in some anonymous fashion. I believe that if you have something to say that you say it with your screen name and not hide behind a woman skirt.

Frank, as for your invitation to eat at Joes, sorry, but I need to keep my good looks looking good and eating pizza with Randy isnt going to do the trick. You know Frank, Im sure that deep down, that youre a nice guy and all but its the same thing over and over with you that gets me so irritated. You started inhere with King Stud, then you went off on Harvard, Yale and Slezz-lee-zian in a never ending tangent. It gets old after a while.

As for Lance(r)ecruter, here you go again. You dont know when to stop advertising do you. Its beginning to be a standing joke if people like Amat 73 are even beginning to notice. BTW, I have noticed one scary thought in all of this and that is that your kid must be a freshman. If thats the case then we have at least four more years of listening to infomercials coming from you. What a horrendous thought.

  • Coaching

The difference between BA and SH is once again coaching. We have these three old guys that Fred thinks are great coaches, because they won a few rings. Just because all the coaching in the area sucks doesn’t mean that the best in the area is any good. Now they are going to be playing against equal talent and the coaching is going to be the difference. The next five years they have to play each other through league. To them it is going to be a recruiting battle. What it should really be is a coaching battle. Then they have to go through the baseline league in the playoffs. The baseline league has equal talent but much better coaching. Now these guys are going to have to pull out their “coaching for dummies” books to have a chance.

  • I’m back..!

We make chicken salad that you instead would have made into chicken crap. Once again, why I continue to remind everyone that if you transfer to South Hills you’ll be player of the year but if you remain at Bishop Amat you’ll get beat in the second round and hope for a 1st team All-Valley selection. Speaking of selections, if you look at our scrimmage and preseason schedule we actually now have the most difficult schedule in the Valley and Charter Oak may be second to us which means Bishop Amat your the third best team in the Valley.

I am just sick and tired of the coaches and team getting too much credit but then again no one else is giving Bishop Amat credit except yourselves. That alone says something. We are clearly a better coached and more athletic team than you this year and that’s why your coach never called us for a game. Bogan himself has said your schemes are not sophisticated or complicated to defeat. Remember we have the Coach of the Decade and you know as well as I do FredJ loves South Hills most of all. He’s an Edgewood alumni and has been infatuated with Bogan for years.

Bottom line don’t hate the program hate the game and Bishop Amat has plenty to be upset about because no longer is the attention always on you but more so on teams like us. No one will stop our team this year. Canada is cleared to play, transfers are coming, and we will once again restore are rightful place at the top looking down on you Lancer wannabes. See you in December Bishop Amat fans when you come pay to watch us play.

  • I’m back is back but he forget his brain

    I’m back

OK then…If South Hills is so great, can you explain what has happened to South Hills the past two years? How do you figure SH would have beat BA this season? How do you figure SH will be able to stop RB Jay Anderson and WR Wallace Gonzales next year? This should be interesting…

And Bishop Amat has like 4 former head coaches as assisstant coaches and 2 former NFL players. They are also backed by the most loyal and loudest booster club in Southern California. And they never have less than 5,000 fans at their games. Common man…BA has an IN n OUT truck at each of their home games! That’s big time! lol!

Seriously man…How can South Hills even come close to matching any of the above mentioned?

  • realistic

I’m Back…- In what South Hills thinks is their best year EVER (12-2 in 05/06) their two losses were to Rancho Cucamonga (who Amat swept convincingly the next two seasons) and Esperanza (who lost to a Loyola team that Amat beat by two TDs)
the pattern continues – you can’t compete (unless of course you consider beating the likes of Santa Ana, Arroyo and South El Monte on the way to a championship is a major accomplishment)

  • Im Back = Delusional at best

You have got to be joking…

    2009 Bishop Amat 41, Diamond Ranch 13
Diamond Ranch 31, South Hills 27

    2008 Bishop Amat 17, Diamond Ranch 6
Diamond Ranch 15, South Hills 12

Bishop Amat 42, West Covina 6
West Covina 14, South Hills 10

  • BEAT SOMEBODY FIRST

    i’m back,
How can you come on here with this bs when you guys can’t even get past DR. I mean for you to put sh in the same sentence as Amat and CO is totally absurd. You come on here writting the attention is no longer on Amat. Well the latest threads with the mos hits are on Amat. When was the last time you saw a thread on sh . CO has a few about them but sh nowhere to be found and rightfully so . When you make no noise on the football field how do you expect to have any thrads about you . If it wasn’t for the guru you would have nothing . What a lead fan you have in that guy. Then you come on here begging for tramsfers from Amat so thy can become POY at sh , well that says a lot for your home grown talent if you have to come on here a beg for castoffs. Now you are touting another transfer in Canada. Great program there. There is one thing for sure in the SGV na that is the fact that sh will never ever step on the field with Amat because they know what coming next . At least you have give CO all the respect in the world as the have played us along with a few othe sgv teams. Plus they beat you and they beat DR so how in the world can you come on here again and talk the cif championship bs again because you know it is just not possible . By the 6th or 7th week of next season you will all be bitchen and moaning about the direction of your team just like last year. At least you have the first part of name correct now for the second part , I’m back for another whippin in the playoffs.

It is a very nice move on Hagerty’s part to play Garfield. Heck some of the people in East L.A. send their kids to private middle schools and pay tuition, they know what it is like, they do not all go to public school out there. With that said, playing Garfield Hags is trying to expose Bishop Amat HS and potentially tap into a pipeline of getting kids from the east side to consider Bishop Amat. This is Genius on his part. Kids come to Amat from further distances then East L.A. Why not try to draw those kids to come and play Bishop Amat Football??

  • jcaz

Hum…thats an intersting one….Only problem is that I posted at 10:26PM and he posted at 10:31am…..and I do like to eat at Joe’s, and would love to have a Pizza with Frank, Randy, 73, COfan, and of course, Joe Amat as well.

    Let’s eat !!!

  • HOW ABOUT SHAKEYS

    Jcaz,
What better way to start off week zero with some pizza and a few brews before the game at ELAC with the ones you mentioned a few more. There is a Shakeys on Atlantic Blvd right around the coner from ELAC. Maybe we can get a pregame gathering started.

  • Lancer Cooks

Need to call ELAC and see if they allow tailgating in their parking lots before football games??

  • perfect match different time same punctuation, format, syntax, bs

    joecaz, point stands

  • CIF State

Lets just pray that Bishop Amat does go undeafeted this year because with Gafield on the schedule we are already looking else where for the next state bowl bid candidate.

  • BELVEDERE PARK

There is a huge park right by ELAC . If the above spelling is correct and I would guess you can BBQ there if it is not allowed at ELAC . Just be careful with the spirits as it is a county facility. Or go buy a couple of Manuel’s Special at El Tepeyac and dig in.

  • Where do Goldfish live when not in a Bowl ?…the SGV…JK !

Clarifying something. Last year Bishop Amat was “easy pickings” for a few schools, St. Bonne’s being one of them. Look what happened. In fact wasn’t there noise that Hags “chickened out” on a matchup with CO and instead went looking elsewhere for an easy game. I’m still looking for Amat’s easy game btw. This year, unless you’ve lived under a rock, most teams want no part of the “they’ve lost all their talent” but somehow won the Sierra League and beat some incredibly talented team…Lancers. So is it an indictment on Bishop Amat or an indictment on the SGV, East or West, that a team like Garfield steps up when others won’t. For the OC and IE would be a better match up therorists I doubt anyone wants to be St. . Bonnie’s version 10. Garfield may lose 35-0 or 55-7 but then that only puts them in DR territory. My guess is Hags is doing what he’s been doing since day one, plowing the field and spreading the word….”If you want to play against the best..come to Amat!” One thing few will deny, and you see it at the Bonita Passing League Tournament so often, when Amat plays, people watch. When the game is over, people say…”they’re smaller than I thought.” and in the back of most “players” minds and a few Dad’s minds as well there is that thought…”I BET I COULD PLAY FOR THEM”…well playing “AGAINST” them is what Garfield is about to do. Don’t surprise me one bit….but then again I don’t like FISHBOWLS. Still think San Dimas and Cathedral make a heck of a game as both teams are well coached and have similar ambitions. Anyone know if SD would consider the game?

Glad to see DR scheduling Damien. Layton has never lost to Gano…so this should be rich. Viramontes is gone and those are some big shoes to fill…so we’ll see what’s what. Funny that someone is mocking Amat’s “bowl” chances, after scheduling Garfield, as if anyone is kicking down SGV teams doors down for a Bowl consideration. If back to back Championships don’t get ‘er done…what will?

    Chinese saying…Last night I dreamt I was a Butterfly…or am I a Butterfly now dreaming I am a man? Figure that out

  • 5DOLLAR

Amat has just three former head coaches who are assistant coaches. I wouldn’t call what DiFiori was doing while at Amat the first time head coaching. DiFiori couldn’t win if he had the Colts and he faced a middle school team!

  • jcaz

How about Shakeys, thats a good idea, but is there really enough beer for all the bloggers in here ? Wouldnt it be awesome to do that ? ha ha ha

Hey, joecaz, good point there, but if I recall, not to long ago some guy was in here busting my chops saying that I was this other guys father who was on the football team. Man he wouldnt let up. In fact, the guy went on for over a year trying to convince me that I was in fact him. Man what a shock that would have been for my wife eh ?

    Ouch !!

  • Dogman

    Lesson Learned?
“We took them for granted,” Birmingham Coach Ed Croson said on the eve of the teams’ rematch tonight in a City Section Championship Division first-round playoff game at Garfield. “We were working on our Crespi game plan and there was stuff we weren’t going to use for Garfield.”

  • Garfield High

All of the Amat must have alot of fate in their team. just to let you know over here on the east side were preparing for this so called GREAT amat.. Our boys have the heart of warriors and wont back down from a challenge.. Yes we might of lost a couple of close games last year but that only proved what caliber team we are.. so to finalize my words Amat dont get your hopes up because, are boys are use to being the underdogs, so dont be suprised if the game is not what you expected..

  • reality

Garfield High – you’re embarrassing Garfield – or perpetuating the stereotype. Stop now. But of course, last year St Paul embarrassed you too, and in turn was so embarrassed by Amat they are no longer worthy to be on the schedule. So I guess you’re used to it. Prepare for more
