Column: Grab-bag of music and movies have subtle links to 909

Three random media products I enjoyed in a one-week span — a music DVD, a CD and a movie DVD — all turned out to have low-key links to the Inland Valley. I also present three culture corner items and cop to two mistaken word choices in previous columns — oops. All this is in Sunday’s column.

Many of these items, you might be curious to know, were written for last Sunday’s column but were crowded out due to news about the Big Boy train and the media’s confusion about precisely where Glendora is located. But they kept.

Your column reminded me that I haven’t played, “I’m Your Man”, in a long time–and I love it. Talking about famous people and connections to this area–Frank Zappa’s family lived across the street from me in the 60′s; Jon Svenson’s home and sculpture studio were on the same street. We bought our house from it’s original owners in 1964, one of whom went on to be a well-known Southern California chef, Jackie Olden. She had an AM food show on the radio. Maybe what all this means is that one must get out of the IE to find any notoriety.

Perhaps! It certainly seems to help.
