Virginia Glee Club’s to perform March 7

Considered one of the top collegiate men’s choruses in the country, the 141-year-old Virginia Glee Club from the University of Virginia, will perform March 7 at Bridges Hall of Music. 
The free concert in collaboration with Pomona College’s Men’s Blue and White will take place at 8:15 p.m. at Bridges, 150 E. 4th St.
Glee Club classics, University of Virginia songs, sacred music, Glee Club classics, spirituals and folk songs will be performed. 
Featured composers include Leonard Cohen, George Harrison, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Biebl and more.

– Post punk revival’s Temper Trap with Papa will play March 21. Tickets are $25.
– Hip-hop’s Aziatix with Russell W. and Andrew Logan will perform March 30. Tickets are $15.
– The Facedown Fest 2012 on April 7 features Christian metalcore’s War of Ages, In The Midst of Lions, xLooking Forwardx, Gideon, My Epic, Onward to Olympas, Hands, Your Memorial, Hope for the Dying, A Hope for Home, The Burial. Tickets are $20.
– Electronic music artist Active Child, Balam Acab and Superhumanoids take the stage April 27. Tickets are $12.50 to $15. 
– Post-hardcore’s Enter Shikari with LetLive, At The Skylines performs April 28. Tickets range from $12.50 to $15. 
– The Revelation Records 25 Year Anniversary performances on June 8, June 9 and June 10 which features hardcore punk’s Youth of Today, hardcore punk’s Gorilla Biscuits with Sick Of It All, Bold and Shai Hulud and more is sold out.

Saturday Riverside Heat festival is well, hot

I am going to try and leave out the obvious puns with the name but the UC Riverside’s Heat multi-genre music festival takes place Saturday March 3 features a stellar line-up.
Acts are alternative rock’s The Airborne Toxic Event; hip-hop’s Mac Miller; reggae fusion’s Major Lazer; electronica hip-hop act Chiddy Bang; pop’s Karmin; reggae, dub and rock act Iration; DJ Fei-Fei; dubstep, drumstep and bass act Secret Panda Society.
The festival, which runs from 8 p.m. to midnight, has a Highland Stage, Southland Stage and a Vantage Stage on the campus. Doors open at 7 p.m.
General admission tickets are $39 plus fees.

The final lineup was recently announced for the Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival 2012 which takes place at noon March 3 at the National Orange Show, 689 S. E St., San Bernardino. The event, which features a medical marijuana expo, is scheduled to end at 2 a.m. March 4.

Pomona Concert Band will hold a city of Pomona sponsored winter concert Friday

The Pomona Concert Band will hold a city of Pomona sponsored winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Palomares Park Community Center, 499 E. Arrow Hwy in Pomona. 
Edmund Fry, of the Rose Tree Cottage in Pasadena, will be the Master of Ceremonies. 
The concert, titled “Meet The Band,” is free and feature individual members performing musical arrangements featuring individual soloists and sections of the band. 
Linda W. Taylor is conductor and musical director while band members come from Pomona and more than 20 surrounding communities to make music together. 
In 1947, the band was founded by G. Stanton Selby as part of a local Pomona American Legion Post.

Rock and Worship Roadshow to feature some of Christian music’s best known performers March 8 in Ontario

The Rock and Worship Roadshow will feature some of Christian music’s best known performers with rock’s MercyMe, contemporary rock’s Tenth Avenue North, hip-hop’s Lecrae, rock and pop punk’s Hawk Nelson, Disciple, acoustic pop’s Sidewalk Prophets and rock’s Rend Collective Experiment.
The concert takes place at 8 p.m. March 8 at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, 4000 E. Ontario Center Parkway in Ontario.

Comedian Demetri Martin to perform at Bridges on March 1

Claremont McKenna College and Pomona College are presenting comedian Demetri Martin, who incorporates music from guitar, harmonica and other instruments into his act, at 8 p.m. March 1.
Martin, known for his Comedy Central sketch comedy show “Important Things with Demetri Martin,” has been a frequent contributor to “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart and is known for his comedy specials including 2007’s “Demetri Martin. Person.”
Tickets are $15 for students with Claremont Colleges identification or $27 for general admission.

All ages venue The Wire in Upland will feature Walnut’s rock and electronica’s The Ready Aim Fire! for an EP release show (for “Atheist Grief”) with Riverside’s I Am Cassettes, Rancho Cucamonga’s Dose of Adolescence and Long Beach’s Hearsay 7 p.m. Friday.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, the venue will feature Glendora’s hard rock, punk rock and grunge Dihverscity, La Puente’s Weak Signal, Los Angeles’s Secret ‘Stache and Ontario’s As Kings Fall.
