Outfielder Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels is often referred to as the best player in baseball.
Trout now has something to back that up as Thursday he won his first American League Most Valuable Player award. He won it by unanimous vote, the first to do so since Ken Griffey Jr. in 1997, the youngest in history to do so in either league.
Trout collected 30 first-place votes and a total of 420 points. Designated hitter Victor Martinez of the Detroit Tigers finished second and outfielder Michael Brantley of Cleveland Indians was third.
