Brett Anderson will start Thursday against the Colorado Rockies.

Dodgers pitcher Brett Anderson will be activated from the 15-day disabled list Thursday and start that night’s game against the Colorado Rockies.

Anderson, sidelined by a finger blister most of September, pitched a rehab game last Friday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The left-hander allowed three hits and one run in five innings against the El Paso Chihuahuas, walking no one and striking out five. With the exception of a solo home run, he was able to limit the hard contact he allowed.

Anderson has made two major league starts after missing almost five months recovering from back surgery. He is 0-2, having recorded 12 outs and allowed 11 runs (24.75 ERA) in the games against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds.

Last year, Anderson went 10-9 with a 3.69 ERA in 31 starts for the Dodgers.

The rotation for the remainder of the four-game series remains to be determined.

The Dodgers beat up on old friend Zack Greinke again, again with Kenta Maeda on the mound, in a 3-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The box score is here.

Brett Anderson, Scott Kazmir and Brett Anderson might pitch for the Dodgers again this season.

The Dodgers’ starting rotation is starting to rotate on a normal-ish basis.

Ross Stripling and Brock Stewart are scheduled to start the next two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks. That will complete a streak of four straight rookie pitchers (Kenta Maeda today, Jose De Leon yesterday) who will have started a game with the Dodgers nursing a small lead in the National League West standings.

What’s more, the Dodgers are scheduled to use a different starting pitcher in all six games they will play this week.

However, things are about to get normal. (Normal-ish, at least.) After an off-day Thursday, the Dodgers travel to Miami to kick off a 10-game road trip. Here are the probable matchups for that series:

Friday: Clayton KershawJose Fernandez
Saturday: Rich HillTom Koehler
Sunday: Maeda – Jake Esch

The Dodgers optioned Brock Stewart to Double-A Tulsa to make room for Kenta Maeda, tonight’s starting pitcher, on the 25-man roster.

The Tulsa Drillers’ season ends Sept. 5 — a week from today — so Stewart will be eligible to rejoin the Dodgers after that day.

Stewart pitched the best game of his brief major league career Sunday at Dodger Stadium, pitching five scoreless innings in a 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Dodgers engage in a bit of roster trickery to bolster their bullpen.

Prior to Friday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, the Dodgers optioned their top starting pitcher to their lowest minor league affiliate.

Why is Kenta Maeda a member of the Arizona League Dodgers tonight?
