As in previous years, Cajon will host the San Bernardino County vs. Riverside County all-star basketball games. This year the games are on April 8, with the girls game at 6 p.m. and the boys game at 7:30 p.m.
Coaches who have not already nominated seniors for the game should do so immediately. For girls nominees, e-mail Mark.Lehman@sbcusd.com and for boys nominees, email randy.murray@sbcusd.com.
Those who didn’t know Kenny Boardman before, saw him on Monday. When was the last home run you saw hit by a high schooler at San Manuel Stadium? I can’t remember. And this one was legit, out to left-center, not just inside the foul pole.
Robert Grande did a nice job of allowing several of the pitchers to hit in addition to pitch in the game.
Above, Yucaipa’s Annie Bakenhus talks about winning a CIF-SS title and playing in the all-star game.
It was a rough game for the Inland Empire all-star softball team on Wednesday night. Orange County won the game at Big League Dreams in Chino Hills 9-0, but while Orange County was mostly missing Mission Viejo slugger Alyssa Palomino, the Inland Empire was missing more.
The Inland Empire roster of players who couldn’t make it might’ve been better than the one that did make it: Yucaipa pitcher Brooke Bolinger (travel ball commitment), Los Osos catcher Paige Halstead (junior national team), Chino Hills infielder Tannon Snow (graduation). Assuming the Junior National schedule doesn’t change (that’s also why Palomino didn’t make it), hopefully in the future they can avoid other things like travel ball tournaments and graduations to get the best players. There’s no doubt the players who made it had a good time and played hard, but they were overmatched by some of the Orange County pitching.
Yucaipa’s Brooke Bolinger, left, is expected to play in Wednesday’s all-star game.
In the past, it was a Riverside County vs. Orange County all-star softball game, but now, San Bernardino County is involved, pitting the Inland Empire vs. Orange County. The game is tomorrow, Wednesday June 10 at 6 p.m. at Big League Dreams in Chino Hills. It is expected to feature two players and head coach Dave Kivett from Yucaipa’s CIF-SS Division 2 championship team that knocked off the country’s No. 1 team.
Players expected to appear on Inland Empire all-star roster (sorry for the formatting issues):
San Bernardino County

Above, is the flyer for Saturday’s all-star girls basketball game at Arroyo Valley Coach Michael Anderson will hold his second Best of the Best Girls All-Star Basketball Game on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Arroyo Valley. It’s a game he started when he was at Rialto.
I hope not all of these players show up, because it will be difficult to get that many players playing time in the game.
The North team will be coached by Bloomington Christian coach Dawnesha Buckner, and the preliminary roster included 20 players from San Bernardino County, including from Bloomington Christian, Arroyo Valley, Jurupa Hills, San Gorgonio, Colony, Grand Terrace, Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Summit and Carter. The team also has players from Ganesha and Pico Rivera El Rancho on the squad.
The South team is largely from Riverside County, but also includes Chino Hills players.
