Elderly woman struck by vehicle, killed in Alhambra


An elderly woman died after she was struck by a vehicle in an Alhambra crosswalk late Tuesday, police said.
The fatal collision took place about 10:10 p.m. at the T-intersection of Valley Boulevard and Granada Avenue, Alhambra police officials said in a written statement.
The woman’s identity was not released Wednesday pending positive identification by coroner’s investigators and notification of family, police said. She was estimated to be in her 70s.
But items in the woman’s possession indicated she may have lived at a nearby senior-care facility, Alhambra police Sgt. Steven Carr said.
She was walking north within a marked crosswalk, traversing Valley Boulevard, when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle, according to Carr.
Paramedics took the badly injured woman to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, we she was soon pronounce dead, officials said.
The driver, described only as a man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Carr said. Impaired driving was not initially suspected.
Carr said.
The cause and circumstances of the collision, including the status of the signal lights at the intersection, remained under investigation.

Man fatally struck by car in Pico Rivera identified


PICO RIVERA >> Authorities have identified a man who was fatally struck by a car along Washington Boulevard in Pico Rivera earlier this week.
Aldan Justin Ommanney died at a hospital early Tuesday following Monday morning’s collision along Washington Boulevard, near Rosemead Boulevard, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Lt. David Smith said. He was listed at the coroner’s office as transient.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said Ommanney was believed to be jaywalking when he was struck. He had crossed the westbound lanes of Washington Boulevard before being struck in the eastbound lanes.
Paramedics took Ommanney to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he succumbed to his injuries at 1:41 a.m.. on Tuesday, coroner’s officials said.
The collision is being investigated by deputies from the sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station.

Elderly Baldwin Park woman fatally struck by car while crossing street


BALDWIN PARK >> A 75-year-old woman died after she was struck by car while crossing a street in Baldwin Park late Wednesday, officials said.
Ela Hernandez of Baldwin Park died after she was struck by a vehicle about 6:35 p.m. while crossing Francisquito Avenue at Athol Street, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Chief of Operations Brian Elias said.
She was walking within a crosswalk when struck, Baldwin Park police Sgt. Joshua Hendricks said. Paramedics pronounced Hernandez dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police, the sergeant said. The investigation was ongoing, however there were no initial signs of intoxicated driving.
Further details, such as the directions of travel involved in the collision, were not available Thursday.

Woman struck, killed by car in West Covina


WEST COVINA >> A woman died after she was struck by a car in West Covina late Wednesday, officials said.
The fatal collision was first reported at 7:55 p.m. on La Puente Road at Sentous Avenue, West Covina police Lt. Pat Benschop said.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene, he said. Her identity was not yet known.
The driver of the involved car remained at the scene and cooperated with police, the lieutenant said.
No further details were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.

Skateboarder fatally struck by car in Hacienda Heights


HACIENDA HEIGHTS >> A skateboarder died after being struck by a car in Hacienda Heights on Friday afternoon, officials said.
The collision was first reported at 12:13 p.m. at Halliburton Road and Hacienda Boulevard, according to California Highway Patrol logs.
The victim, a man estimated to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, Los Angeles County fire officials said.

La Habra man fatally struck by minivan identified


LA HABRA >> Authorities have identified a 42-year-old La Habra man who was struck and killed by a minivan while crossing Imperial Highway late Thursday.
Roberto Valdivia died at the scene of the 6:30 p.m. collision along in the 1000 block of West Imperial Highway, near Idaho Street, according to Orange County coroner’s records.
The driver of the involved minivan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, La Habra police officials said in a written statement. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Man fatally struck by minivan along Imperial Highway in La Habra


LA HABRA >> A man died late Thursday after he was struck by a minivan along Imperial Highway in La Habra, authorities said.
The fatal collision was first reported about 6:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Imperial Highway, near Idaho Street, La Habra police officials said in a written statement.
“When officers arrived they found an unresponsive male adult lying in the roadway,” according to the statement. “Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived to treat the victim, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The driver of the vehicle, described in coroner’s records as a minivan, remained at the scene, police said. He and a passenger suffered no injuries.
“The cause of the collision is undetermined at this time, however, alcohol does not appear to be a factor,” the statement said.
Officials withheld the victim’s name Friday pending notification of his family.

Man fatally struck by car along Live Oak Avenue in Arcadia


ARCADIA >> A man died after being struck by a vehicle along Live Oak Avenue in Arcadia on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The deadly collision took place about 5:30 p.m. on Live Oak Avenue near 6th Avenue, Arcadia police Lt. Colleen Flores said.
The man, estimated to be 40 years old, was walking in the eastbound traffic lanes when he was struck, Flores said in a written statement.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the man was walking in the roadway, well outside of the designated crosswalk, when he was struck,” she said. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, who suffered no injuries, remained at the scene, police said.
Officers from the Arcadia Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team are handling the investigation.

Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicles on 10 Freeway in Pomona


POMONA >> A man died after being struck by several vehicles while running across the 10 Freeway in Pomona late Thursday, authorities said.
The incident took place about 11:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway, just west of Towne Avenue, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The pedestrian’s identity was yet to be determined Friday afternoon, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Assistant Chief of Operations Ed Winter said. He was listed at the coroner’s office as a “John Doe.”
A 28-year-old San Gabriel man was driving a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck at about 70 mph in the No. 2 lane, in light traffic, when he spotted the pedestrian running from the center divider into traffic lanes, Officer M. Walters of the CHP’s Baldwin Park-area office said in a written statement.
The driver of the pickup truck braked, but was unable to stop in time to avoid colliding with the pedestrian, the officer said.
“After the collision, the pedestrian was struck by several passing vehicles,” Walter said.
As a result of the fatal collision, all lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway were shut down for about four hours.

Man dies after being struck by two cars along Whittier Boulevard


WHITTIER >> A man died after he was struck by two cars while crossing Whittier Boulevard at the east end of the city late Saturday, officials said.
The man, estimated to be 60 years old and believed to be homeless, died following the collisions, which were reported about 8:25 p.m. along Whittier Boulevard, just west of Valley Home Avenue, Los Angeles County Department of Medical-Examiner Coroner Investigator Anthony Lopez said.
The initial investigation indicated the man was walking south across the boulevard, not within a crosswalk, when he was struck by a westbound Buick Sentry sedan, according to Whittier police Lt. Bryan Ellis.
Following the initial impact, the pedestrian was struck by a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, the lieutenant said.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The drivers of both vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Ellis said. No arrests were made as the investigation continued.
