3 women sought in Pasadena robbery, carjacking

PASADENA >> Three women robbed and carjacked another woman at knifepoint along a residential street in Pasadena Friday afternoon, police said.
The three robbers approached the victim, a Pasadena woman in her 30s, about 5:40 p.m. as she was getting out of her white, 2002 Toyota Avalon in the 400 block of North Los Robles Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. John Mercado said.
One of the women tried to grab the victim’s cell phone and wallet from her hand, but was unable to, and the two began to struggle over the items, Mercado said.
“While they were fighting, (another) suspect produced the knife and demanded the victim’s cell phone and wallet,” the lieutenant said. The frightened victim complied.
All three robbers then got into the victim’s car and drove off, he said.
The woman had purchased the car via a private sale three days prior and could not immediately provide police with its license plate number, Mercado said.
She suffered injuries including a bloodied lip and scrapes and bruising to her shoulder, but declined to be taken to a hospital, he added.
The woman who wielded the knife was described as Latina, in her late-teens or early-20s, heavyset, with red or burgundy hair, wearing black leggings and a black shirt.
