Arcadia, Crescenta Valley halted in 8th (rain) with score tied 4-4, is it a tie or do they resume? …

Arcadia and Crescenta Valley’s key Pacific League showdown was halted in the 8th inning due to rain on Friday night with the score tied 4-4.

The question now is whether the two teams will be allowed to resume the game or if it will go down in the record books as a tie. The decision could be key to the league championship race as both teams entered Friday tied with Pasadena for first place.

Pasadena beat Muir earlier Friday and would hold a half-game lead with six to play if Arcadia-CV is ruled a tie. It will be up to the Pacific League to determine whether a game can end in a tie or be resumed.

Aram’s Take:
The vibe here is that this will be a tie.

Alex Rivera to hand over reigns as Flintridge Prep AD

By Keith Lair
Alex Rivera will be saying goodbye as the Flintridge Prep athletic director, ending a 28-year reign in July, one of the longest-serving ADs in the San Gabriel Valley. He will become the school’s Director of Athletic Initiatives.
“It’s an idea I started about six years ago,” he said. “To get athletes more involved in the community. Having them help out and realize how fortunate they can do things and how we can help others who can’t.”
Rivera, who has taught at the school since 1978 and been the athletic director since 1986, will oversee the Athletic Council on Leadership, directing sports initiatives in the Pasadena area and Nicaragua. He will begin a Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena camp on campus this summer, continue working with the Special Olympics and also develop alumni athletic affinity groups.
Rivera will hand off his duties to basketball coach Garrett Ohara, who has been the assistant athletic director the last two years.
“He’s synonymous with Flintridge athletics,” Ohara said.

It’s hard to live up to a tougher standard.
South Pasadena High School water polo player Devin Grab said the 2013-14 season was one in which she had to learn how to live up to that standard. Being a member of U.S. junior national team gave her the dubious honor.
She finished as the third-leading scorer in CIF-SS history with 527 goals.
COACH OF THE YEAR
ROBERT ECHEVERRIA, South Pasadena
Robert Echeverria closed out his South Pasadena stint by guiding the Tigers to their fifth consecutive Rio Hondo League title.
Echeverria coached the South Pasadena boys water polo team for eight seasons, leading the Tigers to one title. He stayed on to coach the girls for one more year, helping South Pasadena to the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 semifinals where they lost to eventual champion La Serna. It was the Tigers’ second CIF-SS semifinals appearance for Echeverria. South Pasadena has won 40 consecutive Rio Hondo games.
