While the area was reduced to one final postseason team, that squad did not disappoint. The La Mirada High School softball team scored two runs in the first inning of its CIF-Southern Section Division 2 semifinal game at Oxnard and never looked back in winning 3-1.

La Mirada (21-11) is advancing to this weekend’s CIF-SS Division 2 championship game at Irvine’s Deanna Manning Stadium. The Matadores will face Pacific View League champion Adolfo Camarillo (23-7), the divisional No. 3 seed.

Congratulation to La Mirada, which is advancing to the program’s fifth title game appearance.
