The annual Chocolate Fantasy fundraiser returns to Redlands on Saturday (February 8).

The event benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Redlands.

Tickets for the black-tie event, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Mitten Building, 345A N. Fifth St., are $75.

Carolyn’s Cafe gets new owners

Carolyn has sold Carolyn’s Cafe.

The popular (and highly-rated) Redlands breakfast and lunch spot now belongs to our pal Keith Kahn and his wife Jan, former owners of Complete Food Service/I.E. Gourmet Food Trucks.

The good news — the Kahns aren’t planning to make any changes. And yes, that includes the to-die-for butter-topped coffee cake.

Save on Shakey’s Bunch of Lunch tomorrow

Shakey’s Pizza Parlor has decided to give its fans a little break tomorrow (January 21).

The pizzeria has posted a “Fan Appreciation” coupon for its famous Bunch of Lunch on its Twitter feed.

Coupon-holders will receive the all-you-can-eat meal for just $5.99 (with the purchase of a regular-sized beverage), a savings of $2 off the current price of $7.99.

Darby’s American Cantina takes over from Charlie Jewell’s

We definitely didn’t see this one coming.

Unbeknownst to us, downtown Redlands’ Charlie Jewell’s closed toward the end last year.

Shortly before the new year, Darby’s American Cantina opened in its place.

The new restaurant is designed to be more family-friendly than its former tenant.

Old Spaghetti Factory celebrating 45th anniversary with $4 and $5 meals, contest

Forty-five years ago this Friday (January 10), the first Old Spaghetti Factory opened in Portland.

The restaurant chain is celebrating that anniversary with a contest and special prices.

On Monday and Tuesday (January 13 and 14), as well as January 20 and 21, complete meals will be available for just $4 and $5.

Parliament Chocolate to celebrate grand opening this weekend

Parliament Chocolate, the latest from the mastermind behind à la minute, will celebrate its grand opening this weekend (December 14 and 15).

Just as with à la minute, the focus is on simple quality. Parliament raises the bar by using only two ingredients in its chocolate: High quality cacao and organic cane sugar.

The shop opened December 1 and has been open Saturdays and Sundays since then.

‘Restaurant: Impossible’ filming at Redlands’ Mill Creek Cattle Co. this week

Tomorrow (December 4) and Thursday (December 5), the Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible” show will be remodeling and filming at Redlands’ Mill Creek Cattle Co.

The producers are looking for volunteers (including contractors and skilled electricians and painters) to help with painting, crafting, cleaning and decorating both days.

Hangar 24 Craft Brewery fêtes its barrel-aged brews this Saturday

Redlands’ Hangar 24 Craft Brewery will celebrate its barrel-aged brews during its second annual Pugachev’s Barrel-Aged Beer Festival on Saturday (December 7).

You can call it the Pugafest for short.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the brewery. However, those who have achieved bronze level or higher in the brewery’s Frequent Flyer loyalty program can begin sampling at 10 a.m.

Cost is $25 for eight samples. Beer lovers will have 24 different barrel-aged beers from which to choose.
